3-Year School Calendar Development

The Board of Education is preparing the 2026–27, 2027–28, and 2028–29 school calendars, which must be submitted to the Ministry of Education and Child Care by March 31, 2026.

Consultation Process

There are two stages of input:

  1. District-Level Survey
Collects community feedback on the overall placement of:

    • Spring Break

    • Professional Development Days (Non-Instructional Days)

  2. School-Level Consultation (January)
Led by principals to gather input on each school’s:

    • Bell schedule (including late starts/early dismissals)

    • Additional school-specific Non-Instructional Days

Board Decision

On March 11, 2026, the Board will adopt the calendars after considering:

  • Provincial School Calendar Regulation requirements

  • Learning needs of students

  • Collective agreements (Teachers and CUPE)

  • Feedback from SD48 stakeholders

  • Community needs across the district

  • Financial and operational implications

Thank You

On this webpage, you can review the draft calendars and complete a brief survey, which should take about 10-15 minutes of your time. The Board appreciates your input. The survey will close on Friday, December 12th at 4:00 pm. Thank you for participating. While not all feedback can be accommodated, all input will be reviewed as part of the decision-making process.
